UNO MÁS TIEMPO, POR FAVOR
Yes, one more time, if you please. We have triumphed over the computer glitches that sabotaged our Chapter Twenty SONGBOOK broadcast with special guest, Larry King. As I had shared, Mr. King will tell you he and Sinatra were not close friends. Rather, he says, they were friendly.
Frank liked Larry. For Larry’s part, the relationship started with the word LIKE. His anecdotes and perspectives are the stuff of Chapter Twenty of THE SINATRA SONGBOOK. Join us this Saturday, December 29 at 6pm EST and Sunday, December 30 at 8am EST on Metromedia Radio (metromediaradio.net).

BUILDING YOUR COLLECTION
Here’s the next album on my list of titles that belong in a definitive collection.
I Remember Tommy (1961) This project was and is a loving tribute to Frank’s former boss and big band legend, Tommy Dorsey.
The collection features updated versions of the songs Sinatra made famous while vocalizing with this band twenty years earlier.
Arranger, conductor and Dorsey alumnus, Sy Oliver, updates the charts with a studio group that absolutely captures the Dorsey sound and spirit. And with twenty additional years of singing under his belt, these favorites truly come of age. Rarely sung and featured here is Tommy’s theme song, I’m Getting Sentimental Over You. This album’s an all around treat.
SESSIONS WITH SINATRA: FRANK SINATRA AND THE ART OF RECORDING
Charles L. Granata (A Capella Books)
Chuck’s comprehensive work takes you into the recording studio; exposing you to the techniques Sinatra introduced and refined in his quest for recording perfection. Illustrated with a gazillion images of Sinatra working with orchestras and arrangers, listening to playbacks, and, of course, singing, Sessions with Sinatra tells the whole story of how this artist created his distinctive sound and translated the most intimate human emotions into masterworks of unrivaled proportion.
…FINALLY, A REQUEST
This week, smile a little more. Extend a gesture of kindness.
Makes these days magical. If we all do are part, peace on earth will follow. Merry Christmas.
