FS In-Studio with Billy May
Hope you enjoyed our Chapter Eighteen visit with the legendary Billy May. We covered a lot of ground… but not all of it.
As our visit continues, Billy shares more about his later Capitol sessions with Sinatra, the transition to the Reprise body of work and, in great detail, about his contribution to the Ellington album, Francis A & Edward K. Did you know that May was not originally slated to participate in that project? Billy will fill you in during the hour. That, plus hijinks in and out of the studio, the Trilogy project and more.
One heads-up. I erroneously refer to Sinatra Swings aka Swing Along with Me as the first Sinatra album on the Reprise label. Of course, it is not. That distinction is reserved for the Johnny Mandel – Frank Sinatra match-up, Ring-A Ding-Ding.
Join us for Chapter Nineteen of The Sinatra Songbook, part two of our visit with this significant contributor to the Sinatra legacy, Billy May, Saturday February 1 at 6pm ET and Sunday, February 2 at 8am ET, exclusively on Metromedia Radio.
