Dick is dedicated to preserving The Great American Songbook. During the twentieth century, Great American Songbook composers worked hard to craft songs for Broadway and the movies. A song became a Standard when it was so special that it lived on long after the show or movie for which it had originally been created.
Dick plays the top composers and lyricists like Mercer, Arlen, Gershwin, Kern, Hammerstein, Berlin, Porter, the team of Rodgers and Hart and others were the geniuses who created songs like Anything Goes, Stormy Weather, Dancing In The Dark, All The Things You Are, Just One Of Those Things and so many more.
The vivid lyrics still fit today’s personal life stories and emotions and the melodies are easily picked out on pianos and danceable regardless of tempo.
Dick plays the greats: Sinatra, Bennett, Ella as well as the new comers like Jane Monheit, Stacey Kent and Steve Tyrell.
